Romanian is a Romance language spoken by approximately 28 million people: 24 million who speak it as their native language, primarily in Romania and Moldova, and another 4 million speak it as their second language. It is the official language of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. It is one of the official languages of the European Union.

It is the mother tongue of the Dracula family. Bertrand de Fortunesa's fluency is unknown, although he recognises it. Ivan Dracula, Olga Dracula, Boris Dracula, and Malik Vaccaria's fluency is also unknown, however can be assumed. Zoltan and Renfield may also be fluent or partially fluent due to residing in Romania as well.

In When You're a Stranger, Ingrid laments having to speak English.

"I can't believe we have to speak this stupid language!"
Ingrid

It is possible the Draculas speak English to avoid detection, or due to Romanian no longer being the official language of their residing country, although this is not confirmed.

Atilla Westenra is shown to only speak in mumbled Romanian, and in Carpathian Feast a custodial sings a Romanian folk song the household instantly recognise.
